Why Monitoring Apps Don't Tell the Whole Story
Modern inverters and battery systems have good monitoring. If your system is communicating, you'll know production numbers and you'll usually get a fault code if something goes seriously wrong. What you won't get is the condition of the electrical equipment itself.
Monitoring tells you about performance. It doesn't tell you whether the DC disconnect has signs of heat damage, whether the inverter's ventilation is clear, whether conduit fittings have worked loose, or whether a recent shade change from tree growth has quietly been costing you production for a year. The inspection is visual and non-invasive. Rooftop access depends on safe site conditions and is not guaranteed unless specifically included in the appointment.

Shade changes — tree growth, a new structure nearby — that have shifted the production curve in ways the homeowner hadn't connected to the system
